Samsung, Me and This Day In History.

Ah Samsung. We met 3 years ago while exploring developing an application for advance tv's (now smart or internet tv) through Yahoo (yeah they had a TV app platform). Samsung dumped Yahoo and created their own platform SDK, and we promptly made a deal with them around our "This Day In History" property. We made a TV app for Samsung and a mobile app for Badu (this was pre-Android but now includes some Android phones.)

We got free advertising worldwide anytime they marketed their Smart TV apps, so History got a place right next to Facebook & Twitter.

We made additional TV apps, but none have done as well as This Day - though due to our MSO restrictions you can only play with all these apps outside of the US.

We designed both apps; Samsung provided us with the Badu developers (I suspect they exist only within Samsung) and Accedo Broadband (a Swedish company) with the TV app.

As a coda, we've begun including TV apps as part of all our ad packages to TV manufactures. For example, as part of a larger Ad Deal with Sony in Latin America, we are making an app for their TV platform, in exchange for a TV ad buy.
